One of the reasons the original iPod was able to gain a quick hold on the mp3 player market was that it had a great software suite to go along with it in the form of iTunes. Unfortunately Google does not offer such a software suite. This is because Android phones offer users the ability to access their phones memory right from any computer. So instead of using a program to sync music, photos, videos, and podcasts, Android users are left to do this on their own manually. For someone who has full control of their computer and knows where all of their files are and how to move them around, this is no problem. Although it is a little time consuming. With the release of its PC client and its mobile app for Android, doubleTwist aims to bring the simplicity of an iTunes sync to Android users everywhere.
Getting started using doubleTwist is extremely easy. First download the PC client from their official page. This will allow you to manage the music, photos, and videos that will be synced to your device. If you already have iTunes installed, doubleTwist will use your preexisting iTunes library configuration and will include all of the music you already have in iTunes along with your podcasts. The next step is to head over to the Android market and download the mobile app. Once it has installed you can connect your Android phone to your computer and doubleTwist will recognize it. After that you can configure and setup the sync to your phone and begin the process. It is usually a relatively short process and if you have ever synced an iPhone or an iPod in iTunes you will already be very familiar with the process. Once the sync is done, open the app on your phone and begin enjoying your music, playlists, and any other media you decided to move from your computer to your phone.
DoubleTwist is a free app but the company does offer one very neat feature for the price of five dollars. This feature is wireless syncing and with it whenever you make changes to your doubleTwist music library on your PC these changes will be transferred to your phone wirelessly. This includes any music or videos you have added to your library. One reason this feature really stands out for now is that doubleTwist has managed to beat Apple to it. Although this will soon change with the upcoming release of iOS 5. Another reason to consider using doubleTwist on your PC is that it not only can sync your media to your Android phone but it can also serve as an iTunes replacement. DoubleTwist is worth giving a try and will definitely simplify the process of adding music to your Android phone.
